What is intelligence?
Intelligence is your ability to perceive knowledge, learn from it, and they implicate it as and when needed. There are a variety of bits of intelligence:
We got to school, colleges, and universities and over the years a combination of these are put together according to a person’s inclinations, and capabilities to for their individual Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Your IQ is important because that’s the measurement of your intelligence. This is the yardstick used to judge a person on the academic and professional front. We have been following this for such a long time. However, you may have noticed, it is not necessary, that a person with a high IQ is doing the best professionally and personally. No, that is not the case at all! That is because it is not the only thing that matters. For years, we have only paid heed to exams, test results, and what not, because we feel that is the key to success. Having a high IQ is extremely helpful, but there is more to success than that.
So what is missing?
The Emotional Quotient of an individual is what is missing from the system. This is your ability to understand various situations and respond to them in an effective manner to achieve optimum results. So, how to measure emotional intelligence? Well, there are five domains that form your EQ:
This is the knack of recognizing your emotions as and when they take place.
This is the command over your emotions in terms of managing impulsive reactions that may not be so wise.
This is what drives you to achieve whatever aims you have set for yourself.
This is your personal intuition as to what the other person may be feeling and how you can manage the situation positively.
- Social Skills:
These are skills you will need to interact with people and make an impact on your personality.
These aspects of your Emotional Intelligence are going to help you understand yourself better. When we understand ourselves, it becomes easier for us to understand various scenarios, different sorts of people and their emotions, the requirement of certain actions or reactions to handling circumstances in the most affirmative and effectually.
Having said that, it is important to note that people have their own personality. The aim is not to become the same in order to achieve good results in professional or personal environments.
